By the end of this activity you will be able to: Recognise when to drop the letter ‘e’ when creating new words.
Be careful when you add a suffix to a word which ends in -e. Sometimes you need to keep the -e, sometimes you need to drop it. It all depends on which suffix you use.
hope + ing = hoping (With -ing, you need to drop the -e)
hope + ful = hopeful (If the first letter of the suffix is a consonant, you need to keep the -e)
Remember, a, e, i, o and u are vowels. All the other letters are consonants.
Do these word sums to make new words.
