3D shapes, also known as solid shapes have three dimensions: Length, width and depth. A 2D shape is a flat shape that has two dimensions: Length and width. You will be able to find some 2D shapes on 3D shapes.
3D shapes have edges, faces and vertices. An edge is a straight line that connects vertices. A face is a flat or curved surface that makes up part of the 3D shape. Vertices are the points that the three lines meet.
3D shapes occupy space, if you can pick it up, it’s 3D. There are pyramids, polyhedrons, prisms and curved solids.
By the end of this activity you will be able to: Identify 3D shapes.
In this activity you will identify 3D shapes, use the clues to help.
